April 18, 2025 – 1:00 PM – Peregrina des Lys HDC
It’s always a special moment in a breeder’s life when his first fillies carry on the legacy of their Dam. Fleur des Lys, daughter of Platine du Rouet with whom the whole HDC story began alongside our friends Sandrine, Yannick and now Pierre Fardin and Carinjo 9*HDC, is writing a new page in this beautiful story with the birth of her second foal.
This time, she offers us a magnificent filly by Ermitage Kalone, 4th in the team competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Like all Platine du Rouet’s foals, this new little marvel will bear a precious name.
She will be called Peregrina des Lys HDC, in reference to one of the world’s most famous pearls. Its shape is that of a small pear, its brilliance is inimitable and its various owners have made it legendary.
Discovered on the coast of Santa Margarita Island in the Gulf of Panama in the mid-16th century, the pearl was given to Don Pedro de Temez, administrator of the Spanish colony of Panama, who presented it to King Philip II, who in turn presented it to his wife, Queen Mary Tudor of England.

After his death in 1558, the pearl returned to the Spanish Crown, where it remained as a Crown jewel for 250 years.
In 1808, Napoleon I’s elder brother, Joseph Bonaparte, became King of Spain. His reign lasted 5 years, and when he was forced to leave the kingdom after the defeat of French forces at the Battle of Vitoria, he took some of the Crown jewels with him, including the Peregrine. Joseph Bonaparte voluntarily gave the pearl to his nephew Louis-Napoléon, the future Emperor Napoléon III. During his exile in England, the Emperor sold it to James Hamilton, Marquis and future Duke of Abercorn, who gave it to his wife Louisa. The pearl remained in the Hamilton family until 1969, when it was sold at auction at Sotheby’s, where it was acquired by Richard Burton. He presented it to his wife Elizabeth Taylor on Valentine’s Day, her 37th birthday.
Fleur des Lys and her daughter are in excellent health.
